The
Commission
The 14th Circuit Judicial Nominating
Commission is responsible for providing the Florida
Governor with a list of nominees to fill vacant judicial
positions within the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit. Article V
of the Florida Constitution requires every judicial circuit
to have a judicial nominating commission.
The Commission has nine members, who are all appointed by
the Florida Governor. Four members are lawyers appointed
from lists of nominees submitted by The Florida Bar. Of the
remaining five members, at least two must be lawyers. All
members of the Commission must be residents of the
Fourteenth Judicial Circuit. Members serve four-year terms,
and no member of the Commission may be a member of the
judiciary. Members are also ineligible for any Fourteenth
Circuit judicial vacancy for two years following completion
of their four-year term.
The Commission established this web site to inform the
general public, the legal community, and judicial
applicants about the activities of the Commission and the
judicial nomination process. The Commission will place
information on the site about judicial vacancies,
application deadlines, and interview dates. Check back
frequently for the latest information once a judicial
vacancy is announced.
This site also provides you with an opportunity to
communicate directly with the Commission about applicants.
You can submit a letter of recommendation or otherwise
contact the Commission about an applicant by using the
"Contact Us" page.
